Who is Touchette Bicycle Food Mission?
Made up of volunteers from the hospital and cycling community, our volunteer team understands the needs of our community and is passionate about giving back.
In the midst of COVID-19, Touchette Bicycle Food Mission was created to address food disparity in the East St. Louis and Centreville communities, known food deserts. During the beginning of the pandemic, children who received nutritious foods from school were left to go without. Because so many children and families were experiencing this, it was the was best time to launch the mission. Founded by Touchette Regional Hospital President, Jay Willsher, the mission meets on Thursday evenings and hits the streets to deliver nutritious meals. Ran on bicycles and the drive to give back, the mission has provided thousands of families and individuals with healthy meals each week.
