Touchette Regional Hospital Partners with Clayton Sleep Institute for Sleep Testing

June 26, 2018

Touchette Regional Hospital (TRH) announced today that it will partner with the Clayton Sleep Institute (CSI) of Maplewood, Mo, an area leader in the field of sleep disorders, to bring sleep testing and study capabilities to the hospital. Starting July 1, 2018, TRH will offer clinical sleep testing, through provider referrals, for adults age 18 and older.

Sleep testing and study is used to diagnose and treat sleep apnea, snoring, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, sleepwalking, narcolepsy, hypersomnia depression, sleep and drowsy driving among other disorders.

“We are delighted to begin this partnership with the Clayton Sleep Institute,” said Sulbrena Day, PhD, chief operating officer of TRH. “By working with CSI, our hospital will have the capacity to deliver first-rate sleep medicine, locally, which allows us to continue providing integrated healthcare services to this region and offer patients suffering from sleep disorders a solution towards wellness.”

TRH will complete the $30,000 renovation of their Sleep Center in the coming weeks to include two private rooms with queen-size beds, flat screen TVs, a nightstand and a sitting area with a leather recliner. “Creating the most comfortable patient experience is at the top of our list of priorities for the sleep lab. We want people to feel at home, so they can rest while we work to uncover any sleep issues they may be having,” added Day.

The Clayton Sleep Institute is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and has been providing sleep medicine, sleep research, and sleep education to patients in the St. Louis area for nearly 20 years. The company is comprised of board certified sleep specialists and scientists, registered sleep technologists and registered respiratory therapists with years of experience in the field of sleep disorders.

The addition of the sleep center is one of several recent improvements at TRH. In 2015-2016, improvements were made to the front entrance of the hospital and the Behavioral Health & Wellness Center was completed, offering much-needed inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services to individuals across the State of Illinois. Other recent improvements include a $4.6 million renovation to the emergency department that resulted in a floor plan designed for better patient-provider work flow and faster service.

Additionally, $2.5 million is being invested for improvements to the surgical wing of the hospital. These enhancements began in April 2018 and are expected to be complete in late fall. This includes the design of a new outpatient surgical area and upgrades to the inpatient surgical suite.

TRH continues to look for ways to improve the overall patient experience and to serve as a reliable provider of healthcare services in the region.  The hospital received the 2016 Salute to Southwestern Illinois Award from the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois for its leadership in the region. In addition, Avatar Solutions honored TRH for its patient experience accomplishments in 2015 by awarding the hospital the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Best Performer - Quietness of the Hospital Environment for Medium Hospital.
