Touchette Regional Hospital Offers Healthy Ways To Cope With Stress

April 19, 2022

April is National Stress Awareness Month, and while stress is unavoidable for the vast majority of people, there are many ways to help prevent and manage it. Touchette Regional Hospital is providing some tips for preventing and managing stress in your life.

“Learning healthy ways to cope and getting the proper care and support can help reduce stressful feelings and symptoms,’ says Gretchen Jackson, Director of Behavioral Health at Touchette Regional Hospital.

Here are some basic ideas to help you cope with stress:

  • Take care of yourself – eat healthy, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep
  • Learn how to relax
  • Be proactive in knowing your limitations
  • Do something you enjoy
  • Share your problems and how you are feeling and coping with others
  • Recognize when you need more help – know when to talk to a psychologist, social worker or counselor if things continue.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and need someone to talk to, we’re here to help.  Call our Intake Line at 618-332-4038, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

At Touchette Regional Hospital, our compassionate behavioral health care staff is available when you need us. Maintaining your mental health is critically important to your overall wellbeing.
