Mental Health Awareness and YOU

May 29, 2020

Let’s face it our days are busy and continue to get busier with trying to juggle work, home life and worldwide   pandemics, so it’s easy to get side tracked with focusing on our mental health. But our mental health is just as   vitally important as anything else that’s going on, so take a moment to ensure you are giving yourself   prioritization.

Let’s talk about the importance of taking care of your mental health!

Maintain a healthy lifestyle.  We know there is a connection between our physical health and our emotional health, so it’s important to focus on healthy habits.  Such as, getting enough sleep, eating right, keeping a routine and exercising regularly. These 4 strategies alone can help keep your brain healthy, boost self-esteem, and give your mental health a much needed break from every day stressors.

Give yourself permission to feel.  It is important to recognize your emotions and feelings and to give yourself time to really identify what you are feeling so you can better cope with challenging situations.

Listen to your body. When it tells you that it’s being overwhelmed, take a break. Whether this means taking a moment to get up and stretch or take a quiet moment to meditate, do so. Sometimes just a few minutes a day can help ease stress and tension.

Recognize you are not alone and you don’t have to do it alone.  Make plans with a friend, family member, or set up an appointment with a counselor.  Talking to someone about how you are feeling really can help.

Finding what works for you may not be easy, but can be achieved by making small changes and building on those successes.  Remember, we are in this together and recovery is possible
