Touchette Regional Hospital Encourages Physical Therapy to Treat Chronic Pain

June 6, 2018

Touchette Regional Hospital wants to remind the public of its Physical Therapy (PT) Services offered at 5900 Bond Avenue in Centreville and 2071 Goose Lake Road in Sauget. While PT has been an available service for some time, it is encouraged now more than ever to help reduce opioid prescriptions to treat chronic pain.

Chronic pain prevents a person from living and enjoying their life; which is why our PTs are committed to targeting and managing this pain in patients 17 years and older. They focus on patients who have been seen by their Primary Care Physician and referred for further evaluation, testing and specialized care.

“While many individuals consider PT for strengthening after a surgical procedure, they don’t realize how it can assist with common ailments such as walking difficulties or balance,” says Mike Riley, Director of Physical Therapy at Touchette Regional Hospital. “When a person’s normal function and movement are hindered, regular PT can help a person regain their strength. Posture, balance, walking, and all generalized movements will begin to improve, thus allowing an individual to maintain an active lifestyle.”

The PTs at Touchette are experts in chronic pain and provide treatment through patient intervention and education. They are committed to helping individuals achieve a maximum recovery and return to an active lifestyle. We want to help you be your best self, call 618.332.5490 to schedule an appointment in Centreville or 618.337.9461 for Sauget.
